Routing settings for Reason

Find hereafter some instructions how to best get started setting up Liquid Notes and Propellerhead Reason on Mac OS X and Windows.

Setting up routing in Mac OS X

Please follow these steps to complete the routing setup for Liquid Notes in Reason 6 (and newer):
  1. Setting up an IAC-Bus:

Go to: ApplicationsUtilitiesAudio MIDI Setup. This opens the Mac utility Audio MIDI Setup.

From the menu Window select Show MIDI Window.

Double-click on IAC driver. For the routing to Reason at least one bus should be created. If your project in Liquid Notes exceeds 16 channels, set up additional IAC busses.

    Activate Device is online.

  2. Exporting an arrangement from Reason:

Simply export your arrangement from Reason as MIDI file and open it in Liquid Notes (choose "Other Sequencer" when asked during the import process).

In Reason go to PreferencesAdvanced - under External Control select e.g. Bus A, and scroll to and select IAC Driver IAC Bus 1.

In the rack of Reason go to the Hardware Interface, select the Advanced MIDI tab → activate e.g. Bus A and select the device / instrument for each channel accordingly.

In Liquid Notes match the Output-Routing ("Routing Settings") with the Input-Routing of Reason.

Reason will now receive MIDI-Data sent by Liquid Notes.
