The harmony analysis is obviously wrong. What is the problem?

Last Updated: Dec 03, 2013 04:52PM CET
This article talks about the harmonic analysis in Liquid Notes providing wrong results.

Quick answer: Liquid Notes requires a clean MIDI arrangement to deliver correct results in the analysis. If no clean arrangement is presented, the analysis may be wrong.

Harmonic analysis and Results

Liquid Notes is built on a sophisticated analysis engine that is capable of reading your arrangement like an expert composer does, granted the input provided to it is clean: at present, the machine has only limited capabilities to correct errors by itself - which is different from a human being.

During the analysis, Liquid Notes processes the composition if it detects at least one clear and plain harmony track.

Such a track should cover the entire duration of the composition and include chords with at least three tones. However, if there are no harmony tracks, Liquid Notes will utilize melody and bass tracks, which can also lead to correct results. In any case, a harmony track gives the best support to the analysis process.

If you specifically create a harmony track to support the analysis, it can be muted in the Routing table. Also check the results of the classification on the second page of the automatic routing wizard. If more than one harmony track is showing there, choose the one which contains the most consistent succession of chords.
